Avaya Design Engineer
Summary of Position
The Avaya Design Engineer is responsible for managing the coordination and timely delivery of assigned multiple projects. Most projects are related to the installation of voice and data products (Primarily AVAYA, Cisco and Nortel). Strong organizational, multitasking, negotiation and communications skills are important.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide pre-sale technical support to sales team (conference calls/design requests).
- Design technical solutions utilizing AVAYA Solution Designer (ASD) providing quote in Excel format.
- Engage other partners (DevConnect, CTI, Recording, etc.) to offer a total project solution to our customer.
- Ability to define/analyze customer requirements and design appropriate solution.
- Provide Visio diagrams to customer as required.
- Work with Project Manager to develop scope of work.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proven knowledge and experience with Avaya Voice Communication Infrastructure including: S87X0, S8500, S8300, G700, G650, G450, G350, G250, ESS/LSP.
- Legacy platforms (G3R, SI, CSI), Modular Messaging, CMS, Avaya Interaction Center, PBX/Automatic Call Distributor (ACD), Interactive Voice Response (IVR), and Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) is required.
- Minimum of three years designing AVAYA ECG based solutions including s8700/8500/8300 Media Servers; H248 gateways; Messaging Solutions; Call Center Solutions; IP Telephony.
- Proficiency in AVAYA Solution Designer (ASD), Visio, and Excel.
- Ability to define/analyze customer requirements and design appropriate solution.
- Strong working knowledge of VOIP enterprise networks and telephony, to include an understanding of Quality of Service, bandwidth utilization, addressing, latency, etc.
- Detailed understanding of VOIP protocols and architectures.
- Strong experience in VOIP architectures and elements, communication managers, servers and gateways.
- Effects of jitter, packet loss, and timing slips, etc. on telephony applications.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills to work on several accounts simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Candidates must be able to learn new things quickly, need minimal direction, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Avaya Certifications a MUST (ACA, ACS, ACE). Cisco CCNA strongly encouraged.
- Occasional travel may be required to support Account Executives at customer locations.
